Sinopse:
No inverno de 1982, especificamente na Antártica, se localiza a remota Estação 4 do Instituto Nacional de Ciências dos EUA, onde os homens ( cientistas e operários ) que trabalham lá se deparam com um noruguês tentando matar um cachorro, e acabam o matando.
o helicóptero onde estava o norueguês explode, e o piloto R.J. MacReady decide viajar até a base norueguesa para encontrar uma explicação. ao chegar lá, R.J. encontra a base totalmente destruída e descobre um corpo mutilado parecido com o de uma pessoa.
o corpo é trazido para a base americana para ser estudado, ao mesmo tempo em que o cachorro se transforma em uma bizarra criatura que ataca os pesquisadores.
logo eles percebem que estão diante de um alienígena que pode se transformar em uma cópia exata de sua vítima. ou seja, membros da equipe podem ser mortos e a cópia assumir o lugar deles.
em virtude disso, todos passam a desconfiar um dos outros, ao mesmo tempo em que a cópia vai matando os membros da equipe um por um.
Synopsis:
In winter 1982, specifically in the Antarctic, it is located remote station 4 of the National Institute of Sciences, where men (scientists and workers) who work there are faced with a Norwegian trying to kill a dog, and end the killing.
the helicopter which was the Norwegian explodes, and the pilot R.J. MacReady decides to travel to the Norwegian base to find an explanation. when he gets there, R.J. see the totally destroyed base and discovers a mutilated body like that of a person.
the body is brought to the US base to be studied, while the dog turns into a bizarre creature that goes to attack the researchers.
they soon realize that they are facing an alien that can turn into an exact copy of your victim. in other words, team members can be killed and copy take their place.
because of this, everyone goes to distrust one another, while the copy will killing team members one by one.
